1st XI Match Report
Dromore Ladies 1st XI travelled the long way to Limavady in hope to continue their winning streak. After the lengthy journey, play started slowly for the girls, however it soon settled after 15 minutes when Ana Clarke received the ball on the bi-line in the circle and calmly slotted it past the keeper. The opposition didn’t give up and fought hard in the first half but with the solid defence of Tara Malcolmson, Holly Hanna, Eimear McGarry and Ally McMullan, they were unable to create any chances. Despite leading 1-0 at half time, Dromore knew they had to start the second half more composed and convert the chances they were creating. Good linking up play between Rachel Morrow and Chelsey Whan in midfield allowed the girls to find a foot in the circle and win a penalty corner. The ball was slipped to the left which allowed Tara Malcolmson to drill the ball past the keepers foot. A well deserved goal settled Dromore to play their own game. Fantastic skill and game play from Dromore resulted in a string of corners which Limavady were eventually unable to defend when Judith Carson deflected the ball past the keeper at the post. With a 3-0 lead, Dromore had the upper hand, searching for their next goal. A well timed tackle from Emily Mills allowed her to find Tara Malcolmson who was given acres of space to drive forward with the ball and find Ana Clarke for her second goal. Quickly after the restart Sarah Wilson hit the ball with force into the circle to find Nicole Laverty who deflected the ball into the path of Anna Hughes who forcefully swept the ball into the net. Well deserved 5-0 win for the 1st XI, who are now looking forward to playing Coleraine at home next week.
The girls would like to thank Dromore Dental for their continued support throughout the season.
