Dromore Ladies Weekly Match Reports

1st XI Match Report 

Dromore Ladies 1st XI travelled the long way to Limavady in hope to continue their winning streak. After the lengthy journey, play started slowly for the girls, however it soon settled after 15 minutes when Ana Clarke received the ball on the bi-line in the circle and calmly slotted it past the keeper. The opposition didn’t give up and fought hard in the first half but with the solid defence of Tara Malcolmson, Holly Hanna, Eimear McGarry and Ally McMullan, they were unable to create any chances. Despite leading 1-0 at half time, Dromore knew they had to start the second half more composed and convert the chances they were creating. Good linking up play between Rachel Morrow and Chelsey Whan in midfield allowed the girls to find a foot in the circle and win a penalty corner. The ball was slipped to the left which allowed Tara Malcolmson to drill the ball past the keepers foot. A well deserved goal settled Dromore to play their own game. Fantastic skill and game play from Dromore resulted in a string of corners which Limavady were eventually unable to defend when Judith Carson deflected the ball past the keeper at the post. With a 3-0 lead, Dromore had the upper hand, searching for their next goal. A well timed tackle from Emily Mills allowed her to find Tara Malcolmson who was given acres of space to drive forward with the ball and find Ana Clarke for her second goal. Quickly after the restart Sarah Wilson hit the ball with force into the circle to find Nicole Laverty who deflected the ball into the path of Anna Hughes who forcefully swept the ball into the net. Well deserved 5-0 win for the 1st XI, who are now looking forward to playing Coleraine at home next week.

2nd XI Match Report 

This week dromore 2 XI faced lisnagarvey 3s at home. The match started off well with both teams fighting for possession of the ball. Dromore had some good attacking play but the Garvey defenders held out well. Two chances on the counter for the opposition brought the score to 2-0 at half time.

In the second half dromore came out fighting and controlled the game. Lauren pedlow was instrumental in midfield, creating space and allowing the dromore forwards great chances. The home side was fighting well and gathering great momentum when unfortunately play slowed down due to injury substitutions. Dromore fought well and got the heads down, with midfield working as a solid unit using their skills and speed to escape tight situation in order to distribute balls to the forwards, allowing Alanna Wilson Dromore’s first goal but unfortunately they couldn’t put a second in the net bringing the final score to Lisnagarvey 2 Dromore 1.
Player of the match was named as Lauren Pedlow for her brilliant play and leadership on the pitch.
3rd XI Match Report 
Dromore 3s were home in Ferris Park to Ards 3s this week.

Dromore got of to a good start and created a few early chances with balls being played in from Georgia Luft and Emma Bradahaw. It was not until 15mins into the game when a well struck shot from the top of the circle was finished of between Carolyn Hayes and Emma Bradshaw. Ards came back from the goal fighting as Dromore expected and started to play there game. Lauren Harvey putting in some good saves keeping Dromore ahead in goals. Ards finally equalised after a good run of play just before half time.

In the second half Dromore dominated in the centre of the pitch and started creating chances in the circle. After winning there 3rd short corner Rebecca Sloan’s lightening shot was saved by the Ards keeper but was finished of by Carolyn Hayes making it 2-1. After this Dromore closed up as they were in line for a good win and they weren’t going to throw it away. Super effort and team work was put in from everyone in the team.
