Fourth XI Success

Castle 4th. XI vs. Dromore 4th. XI

Dromore 4th. XI took on Castle in the quarter-finals of the Minor Plate on Saturday at Carrick. Dromore, reaping the benefit of having a more settled team over the past few weeks, started very strongly with good work from the midfield providing opportunities for Christine and Lynne up front. Castle defended stoutly but eventually, the deadlock was broken in the 20th minute by Ellen. The defense continued to stay strong and restrict Castle to a few chances on the break with Deborah and Lucy making key interceptions at crucial times.

Dromore started the second half slowly but extended their lead with a fabulous team goal eventually finished by a super finish from “dame of the game” Morgan. A third goal followed quickly from Christine leaving Castle with a mountain to climb in the last fifteen minutes. Despite conceding a goal with 7 minutes to go, Dromore finished strongly with a second goal for Christine from a penalty corner.

This was a great performance against a solid Castle side with the midfield of Ellen, Emma, Trudy and Lauren providing a great platform for some wonderful hockey. Thanks to Castle for being so hospitable and to Emma Nelson for umpiring.

Result: Castle 4th.XI 1 Dromore 4th.XI 4
